Brown Bag Auction @ Rendezvous

Don’t forget about our Brown Bag Auction to be held after the Shrimp Boil, Friday night. The Brown Bag Auction has always been a fun conclusion to our first day of events at Rendezvous. The auction’s proceeds will go to benefit youth sailing in the West Michigan area. LMCA will contribute monetary funds to provide a scholarship to a youth(s) interested in learning to sail that might not otherwise have the means to pursue this dream.

Please help us to support this worthwhile cause.

What do you need to do? It’s simple. Just bring an item(s) to be auctioned in a brown paper bag. What exactly should you put in that bag? That’s up to you. The item can be nautical or not. You can re-gift a present you can’t use; recycle a boating accessory you no longer need, or just fill it with something neat or tasty. Past surprises have included nautical glasses, wine/beer, art, lighthouses, safety gear, ship’s bells, gift certificates, books—you name it! Staple or tape your bag shut (it can also be a box) and indicate on the outside an estimated value and a clue as to what’s inside. (Don’t tell us what it actually is!) Then the bidding begins. It can get fierce even though no one knows what they are bidding on—so bring lots of cash or your check book! Please remember that this isn’t necessary a “White Elephant “ auction.

If you have something of great interest or value you can email or text a picture to Commodore Hathaway and she will print flyers to advertise the items. Remember no one will know what is in which bag or box because you have disguised the item. Send pics or descriptions to:
Or text 616-299-9630

So, come on out and bring those nautical items or other items suitable for this fundraising event.

Thank you and I’ll see you at Rendezvous!
