Dear LMCA Members–

Rendezvous 2021 — Mac Bay Get-Away — is just around the corner!  July 16 -18 at Macatawa Bay Yacht Club.  Many of you have already registered, and others of you are about to do so.  So don’t delay!

Here are some more details about the weekend.

Friday evening will feature the always popular Shrimp Boil, served by Chef Jon Bontekoe, and modified to meet post-covid standards.  We will also have an auction to raise money for the youth sailing scholarship fund.  You are all encouraged to contribute one or two items for auction.  Rather than a “brown bag”, as has been done in the past, the auction will be a bit more open.  As always, you can also sell your surplus boating accessories at the Dockbox and Bilge sale on the lawn.

Our featured speaker on Saturday will be Cmdr. John Stone, recently retired commanding officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw, who will have some lively stories and practical marine navigation insights to share with us.

Following a delicious taco bar lunch served by the staff of MBYC, we will have several afternoon activities to choose from, including a boat excursion on McDuff, the Duffy Electric Boat captained by Larry DeHaem, and an outing to climb Mt Pisgah at the State Park on the north side of Lake Mac.  After crossing the lake by boat, a short climb will bring us to the summit.

Saturday wraps up with plated dinner exquisitely prepared by MBYC’s chef, offering the choice of prime rib, chicken picatta, salmon, or vegetable stir-fry, all with fingerling potatoes and side vegetable, followed by an evening of musical entertainment by Rick Ruether.

Our Sunday morning wrap-up includes a delightful breakfast served by MBYC staff.

For those of you sailing in, we anticipate MBYC will have some complementary transient slips available, but the number of slips will not be known until shortly before the weekend. If you would like a slip, please email Lisa Ruoff at  If there are not enough slips to accommodate all requests, they will be filled in the order Rendezvous registrations were received.

Your board is working hard to pull all the details together.  Come, see old friends, make new acquaintances, and share sailing and boating stories and tips.
